Irish
Origins Research Agency grew out of the life long interest in
family research of its
founder.
He has traced his own family, on his mother’s side, (in England) back
to Yorkshire in 1556 and his father's (to date) to just 1660. This
aspect
continues to be very much a “work in progress”
He
honed his expertise while working as a tourist board officer giving
frequest one to one advice and staging group lectures and conducting
workshops
for visitor to Ireland who were seeking their roots.
At
the
invitation of the then Australian Ambassador, and British Airways he
has made three extensive lecture tours to Australia and New Zealand.
He has had the honour of representing Ireland at the First World
Congress of family History (Sydney) and earlier at the Fourth
Australasian Congress on Genealogy and Heraldry in Canberra, ACT.

At
the invitation of the Adult Education Committee of the Local Government
in his native Kilkenny he has undertaken an annual family history
course each autumn since the early 1990’s.
In
order to secure a recognised academic qualification he first secured
a Diploma from University Collage Cork in local heritage
studies (Dls) and went on to secure a Batchelor
of Arts Honours degree from National University of Ireland,
Maynooth, again in Local and heritage studies.
He
is the author of extensive articles notable; Catholic Marriage
Record in Ireland and Irish Land Registration Records, both
of
which have been published in Australia.
He has compiled a number of indicies to learned journals.
He served on the Committee of the Ireland Branch of the Irish
Genealogical Research Society and edited their members' newsletters for
some time
